Jack David Sample

Jack, aka Papaw Jack, was born in Quincy Missouri to Lloyd and Margie (Jackson) Sample in February 1936. He was the youngest of four boys. At the age of 23 Jack enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served for 3 years before being honorably discharged in 1964.

Upon returning home, he helped his father in their family’s automotive shop. Later becoming employed with the Buffalo post office, during which time he met the love of his life Judy L. Brooks.

They were united in marriage on August 13, 1977. Jack gained not only a wife but also four children. They settled in Windyville where he enjoyed raising his horses and fishing. He also enjoyed traveling the country with longtime friend Billy Dugan.

Jack unfortunately suffered a stroke in April of 2002 but being the strong-willed man he was, he miraculously pulled through and went to live many more fulfilling years with those close to him.

He was preceded in death by his wife Judy, parents Lloyd and Margie, two brothers Lloyd “Pooch” Sample and Ramie Sample, and a daughter Lisa Sample.

He is survived by a brother George “Wimpy” Sample and wife Donna, of Warrensburg Missouri, his daughter and caretaker Shawn Powell of Windyville Missouri, son David Chip Sample of Centralia Missouri, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends who will miss him dearly.
