Lewis Olen Hill

Lewis Olen Hill was born on February 12, 1929 on a farm in Red Top, Missouri to H. R. and Maude (Jackson) Hill. He was sixth in line of nine children. He passed away on January 2, 2021 from Covid-19.

Lewis confessed his faith in 1943 and joined High Prairie Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He was an active member there at the time of his death.

Lewis graduated from Pleasant Hope High School in 1947.

He met the love of his life, Mary Lou Gregg, and wed on March 25, 1951.

He served in the Army from 1951-1953 and was very proud of his service.

He worked as a drafting engineer at McDonnell Douglas Aerospace Company until he opened Hill Brothers Plating, Inc. with his three brothers. Lewis and Mary Lou had a dairy farm and a beautiful garden. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, son (Lewis Patrick), brother (Homer), sisters (Mildred, Wilma, Nora, and Jewell), and son-in-law (Jim Whitt).

He is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years, Mary Lou, of the home, his children Elizabeth Whitt, Nixa, Cynthia Browning, Springfield, Jay (Jerri) Hill, Buffalo, Janet (Darryl) Wells, Bolivar, grandchildren Chris (Rae) Browning, Brian (Meschelle) Browning, Jamie (Kim) Whitt, Brandon (Julie) Whitt, Patrick (Lacey) Whitt, Jayson Hill, Jennifer (Grant) Korte, Chad McCarty, Drew Wells (Madeline Hall-Baker), Alex Wells, and Carley (Logan) Bryan. He also leaves behind 19 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, brothers Jim (Reva) Hill, Ernest (Claudia) Hill, and Gene (Anita) Hill, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

There will be an open visitation at Cantlon-Otterness and Viets Funeral Home in Buffalo, MO from Thursday, January 7th to Friday, January 8th.

A private memorial service will be held for the family.
