Patricia Beth King, daughter of the late Fred Holmes and Lillian Catherine (Helm) Rau, was born on April 19, 1939 in Kansas City, MO, and departed this life on July 30, 2019 in Springfield, MO. At the time of her passing she was 80 years, 3 months, and 10 days of age.

Patricia was reared and attended school in Kansas City, MO.

She was united in marriage to Ernest Darrell King on March 8, 1958 in Independence, MO and to this union two sons were born, both of whom survive her.

She worked for a short time in retail before beginning her career working for the State of Missouri in the Division of Employment Security. She loved her job and stayed for 24 years before she retired.

After her retirement, they moved to Buffalo in 1999. Patricia enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids, especially having them all over for the holidays. She also enjoyed traveling, gambling, and going to the lake on the weekends to go out on their boat. Patricia loved her cats and spent many hours clipping coupons to save her family money.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents and one brother-in-law, Randy McPike.

She is survived by her husband Ernest Darrel King, Sr. of the home; her sons, Ernest D. King, Jr. & wife Shannon of Kansas City, MO and David F. & wife Carol Ann King of Buffalo, MO; four grandchildren, Alissa P. King, Kyleen M. King, Brandon D. & wife Beth King, and Ashley P. King; one great-grandson, Brooks D. King; and two sisters, Vera McPike and Debra & husband Richard Allen. She also leaves other family members and many friends who will all truly miss her.

Graveside services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 2, 2019 at the Union Grove Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Humane Society of Springfield.
