Sharon Colleen Carter was born on April 18, 1935 in Peoria, Illinois to Porter and Laura Evelyn (Erxleben) Carter and departed this life on October 11, 2020 in Buffalo, Missouri. At the time of her passing she was 85 years, five months, and 22 days of age.

Surviving are several cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Porter and Evelyn Carter, her grandparents, Benjamin and Mary Carter and Fred Henry and Lucile Maude Harper Erxleben, also several cousins.

She was saved at an early age and joined the Bethel Presbyterian Church in Peoria, Illinois. While in high school she worked part time at Woolworths. After graduating from Manual High School in Peoria she worked for the light company.

In the early 60’s she moved to Chicago, Illinois to attend Evening School at Moody Bible Institute. She started working full time at Moody while going to Evening School. She started out in the Steno Department, she transferred to the radio department at WMBI. Before retiring she worked in the Legal Department.

In the early 90’s she moved to Missouri with her mother. From 1962 she and Sharon Powell shared a home, until she had to go to Pine Lodge Assisted Living. She was there from June 1, 2012 to August 28, 2014, she had to move into Buffalo Care Center.

After moving to Missouri Sharon worked for Green Thumb, SBU Physical Therapy Department in Bolivar. After leaving there she worked for the Health Department in Buffalo, Missouri.

Sharon loved to knit and crochet. She had an electric knitting machine on which she made a lot of beautiful things. She also spent many hours working on her family genealogy. She loved her cats. Taffy traveled with us to several states.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 15, in the Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria, IL under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo, MO.
