Rotary Youth Leadership Awakening (RYLA) camp is open to all high school juniors and seniors and Buffalo Rotary sponsored three students this year. Two students from the county reported to the Buffalo Rotary at a recent meeting about their experience at camp, Jorja Harrison and Leah Stitt.  more

Jack and Melba Shewmaker established the Shewmaker Scholarship Trust over twenty-five years ago for the purpose of providing scholarships for higher lerning at the college or university level. In order to specifically benefit local students, the scholarships are only available to deserving graduating seniors at the Buffalo High School. Each year, the net income of the trust is paid out in scholarships. more
Seamless Designs has partnered up with Boggsy’s Barber Shop to provide free haircuts on August 19 - 20 for students going back to school. This is offered for students in kindergarten through twelfth grade only at Boggsy’s. Boggsy’s Barber Shop is located at 117 North Maple Street in Buffalo. The shop hours for Friday will be from 8 to 5 and on Saturday 8 to 3. This is a great way to give back to the community and make sure our kids are looking sharp for school! more
Macks Creek has announced that boys and girls wrestling will be coming to the high school this 2023-24 school year as a new sport. Kris Paschel has been recognized as the new head coach. Paschel has been a teacher at Macks Creek schools for three years and was also recently awarded for the Heart of Missouri RPDC Teacher of the Year Award. more
Skye Ford, a 2023 graduate of Buffalo High School, was recently awarded a $40,000 scholarship from the Wyandotte Nation Indian Tribe in Wyandotte, Oklahoma. This scholarship is payable over four years, $5,000 a semester. Ford plans to attend OTC and obtain an RN degree. She is the daughter of Jacob and Melissa Ford. more
Makayla Strickland, a 2020 graduate of Buffalo High School, has received the Southwest Missouri Public Relations Society of America’s Dr. Joe McAdoo Memorial Scholarship, administered by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks. more
New faces, new spaces, and a plethora of new systems. There’s a common misconception that only a little happens around a school district during the summer. For some, it may be the busiest time of year; for others, it’s no less active, just different. Yes, teachers and students are gone, but that doesn’t mean there is any shortage of things needing attention. This is especially true for our facilities, custodial, and technology crews. The summer always brings big projects, and this summer is no exception. The end of the school year is always a whirlwind of activities. Technology is collecting student devices; teachers are packing up their rooms for the summer; custodial crews are gathering and preparing equipment to start the summer-long floor waxing projects immediately; and the maintenance department is preparing to jump into any remodeling or construction projects. more
The 23/24 school year is just around the corner and we are very excited to start another school year here at Mallory Elementary.This year our mission/vision statement for our building is “Bison Learners for Life.” We are excited about promoting learning in each of our classrooms and to let students know learning never stops in our lives. more

For 16 students at Bolivar Technical College, their dreams became a reality Dec. 18 as they graduated from the practical nursing (LPN) program or the RN to BSN completion program. The commencement ceremony took place at Bolivar High School and recognized 10 LPN graduates and six RN to BSN completion graduates. The guest speaker was Shawn Mock, LPN program coordinator. The student speaker was Madison Guill, LPN graduate. The invocation and benediction were read by Cynthia Hignight and Adam Kinnard, LPN graduates. more

In the Missouri and Arkansas Region, Red Cross disaster response volunteers have also provided relief and comfort after home fires and other local disasters, including responding to tornadoes that ripped across the two-state region, and flooding that impacted the St. Louis area. more
