It is amazing what I run across on Springfield, Missouri History, Landmarks and Vintage Photography's Facebook site. What I'm sharing today is about the smokestack I believe Grandpa worked on. Rex Trantham, my aunt Mildred's oldest son, said Dad Owen (John S. Owen - Mom's dad), and the boys (Doc and John) worked on WPA projects. One was the smokestack that sat in the Frisco yards located near the Frisco depot, on Main, close to Water Street. It was about two or three city blocks west, and was laid in big, red baked brick—not regular house brick. Those were about 8 inches high and 10 to 12 inches long.
