Services: 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, Bible Baptist Church, Buffalo, under the direction of Cantlon Otterness Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.

Dr. Robert Baker will officiate with the Rev. Paul Cofer assisting. Music will be provided by Shannon Nicodemus and David Hartwell. Burial is in Church Grove Cemetery in Buffalo. April Maxine Nicodemus, 91, was born Nov. 22, 1920, in Norwood, the daughter of Clarence R. and Lona Elizabeth (Chadwell) Lilley. She died Aug. 22, 2012, in Buffalo.

She spent her early years in the Norwood area and completed her schooling near Church Grove in Dallas County. She went back to school at age 50 to complete her GED. She also spent time in Tulare, Calif., and Chicago, Ill., while growing up.

After her schooling she was united in marriage with Earl Nicodemus on March 28, 1936. They started their life together in a log cabin at Foose, before purchasing a farm in 1942. They made their home and raised their family on the farm. Following her husband’s death, she moved into Buffalo where she resided at her passing.

Her family was the focus of her life. She loved cooking and entertaining her family and friends and playing games. She always enjoyed traveling and seeing new sights. She was always involved in life, working as a Tupperware consultant for 25 years.

She served on the Church Grove Cemetery Board, and was a member of the Foose Community Club, the Gingham Gals with her sister-in-law Lena Snodgrass, and was Queen Mother of the Bubbly Red Hats.

She loved her lord and savior Jesus Chris, and was a member of the Buffalo Bible Baptist Church where she taught the teenagers Sunday school class for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl Nicodemus; and two sisters: Elizabeth Booth and Genelle Spoering.

Survivors include her son, Richard and wife. Barbara Nicodemus, Buffalo; her daughter, Kathy and husband, Jim Foresee, Buffalo; her brother, Ronald and wife, Pauline Lilley, Buffalo; her grandchildren: Shannon Nicodemus, Issac Popejoy, April Vincent, Mike Foresee, Pat St. Clair and Robin Coulter; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and other family members, her church family and many friends who will all truly miss her.
