CONNIE LADENA (MINOR) SMITH

Graveside service: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, at Cedar Bluff Cemetery, Fair Grove. Cremation rites were accorded by Greenlawn Mortuary, Springfield. Joe N. Minor officiated the service.

Connie Ladena (Minor) Smith, 69, was born Jan. 19, 1943, in Fair Grove, the daughter of Virgil F. and Golda E. (Richmond) Minor. She died April 5, 2012, in Cox South Hospital, Springfield, after a long  illness.

She was reared in Fair Grove and graduated from Fair Grove High School in 1961.

She was united in marriage with Al Smith on Nov. 5, 1996, in Arkansas. They made their home in Springfield. After the ice storm on Jan. 13, 2007, demolished their home, they built a new home and enjoyed their lives with their three dogs.

She was a longtime waitress, working at Manleys,  7 Gables, Mapels and finally retiring from Conoco Restaurant.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters: infant Geraldine Minor, Betty Carson and Naydene Martin; three brothers: infant Clovis Minor, pre-teen Jackie Minor, and William “Bill” Minor; and three brothers-in-law: Kenneth Martin, Lyle Carson and Harry “Junior” Johnson.

Survivors include her husband of 15 years, Al Smith, Springfield; three sisters: Maggie Johnson, Fair Grove, Loma Patterson and Sharon and husband, William “Bill” Skapyap, all of Springfield; three brothers: Edward and wife, Retha Minor, Republic, Joe and wife, Billie Minor, Fair Grove, and Jerry and wife, Debbie Minor, Springfield; one sister-in-law, Monika Minor, Buffalo; one daughter-in-law, Patrice Smith, Arkansas; a number of special nieces and nephews; and many friends and classmates, all of whom loved her and will greatly miss her.
