President DeEtta Gatton convened the February Dallas County Habitat for Humanity board meeting, following a cancellation of the January session due to inclement weather. Chris Gatton commenced with a prayer, setting the tone for the productive gathering.
Board Treasurer Stephanie Collins presented the financial report, spotlighting the generous contributions from various donors backing the ongoing home building project on Stanley Street. Noteworthy donations included a very generous personal contribution from Mr. G.T. Carr of Durham Corporation, along with substantial support from O’Bannon Bank and Old Missouri Bank. Main Street Realty's presentation of the Ozark Board of Realtors hefty donation in December also received grateful recognition.
The first construction committee report, delivered by Doug Arendt, highlighted the remarkable progress of Dallas County Technical Center students under instructor Tim Phillips' guidance at the Stanley Street site. Arendt noted the students' enthusiasm and pride in their on-site experience and training.
Construction Chairman Leroy Laudenbach reported on the successful February 13th Veterans Workday at the Stanley Street building site. Eighteen veteran volunteers from the VFW, DAV, AmVets, and others joined forces with DCTC students. Working together, they made amazing strides in building and raising exterior wall panels. Laudenbach said it was a joyful learning experience for all.
