A memorial service was held April 5 at the First Baptist Church in Osceola. The body was cremated.

Thelma Roe Hacker, 91, was born Jan. 15, 1912, in Decatur County, the daughter of Oldie and Effie (Owens) Roe. She died March 19, 2003, at Colonial Springs Care Center in Buffalo.

She spent her youth in Decatur County and attended school in Le Roy.

She was united in marriage with John Pitman Hacker on March 19, 1932, and two daughter were born of this union.

She lived in Clarke and Decatur counties until May 2002, when she moved to Colonial Springs Care and Rehab Center. She made many friends while she was at the care center.

She attended Symrna Friends Church near Weldon. She made and decorated wedding cakes professionally. She was very creative. She loved gardening and attending various clubs where she was a member. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her delight.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; several infant siblings; one grandson, Joseph McCullough; three brothers: Tom, James and Robert Roe; and three sisters-in-law: Audrey, Marie and Leone Roe.

Survivors include two daughters: Kay and husband, Larry Gegner, Buffalo, and Karen McCullough and Louis McCullough, Osceola; eight grandchildren: Lori Sand, Kansas City, Michelle Lehr, Buffalo, Brian Gegner, Norwalk, Lisa Gegner, Victor, N.Y., John McCullough, Castle Rock, Colo., Mike McCullough, O'Fallon, Kelly Blanchard, Osceola, and Rachel McCullough, San Diego, Calif.; and 12 great-grandchildren.
