Russell Daniel Carter was born on August 12, 1981, to Carl Carter and Kathy Kirchhoff where he grew up in Louisburg before making his home in Buffalo. He passed away in his home on October 30, 2025 at the age of 44.

Darren Cheek took over as sheriff on January 1. DIVAS were eager to hear about policy changes and actions for victims of domestic violence. Last year, Dallas County prosecutor Jonathan Barker reported dismal numbers and problems with reporting to ensure arrests in domestic violence cases.

As you know from reading my column, Terry was an Army brat. Being such, he lived in many different locations: Frankfort, Germany; Fort Knox, Kentucky; Omaha, Nebraska; Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; and Springfield (of course). Later, he and his dad, and maybe his brother Richard, lived in Texas for a while, during the time while they were doing construction work. And as I've said before he went to ten different schools; eventually graduating from Hillcrest, in Springfield.
