Last week, grandparents of D.A. Mallory Elementary school had the opportunity to visit the classroom and meet the student’s teacher. The Bison greeted them in the hallway while they were finding the correct room.

Mex.A.Fino. specializes in Mexican, American and Filipino cuisine since March 30. The restaurant is in the former Time Out Cafe building, 429 S. Dallas St., Buffalo, and is owned and operated by Robert and Melinda Finster. The restaurant is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. It also recently opened up a salad and soup bar to serve with a menu entree for an additional $5.99, or by itself with a variety of salad toppings and soups to choose from for $11.99, all you can eat. The owners are welcoming special events and business meetings to book space. They work alongside three employees, including Diana Maddux, Corina Finster and Katrina Martin. Albert Kerns recently marked his 90th birthday. To help celebrate, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren constructed a large greeting card out of candies. Family and friends also wrote messages to him on another poster board. The candy card reads, “It’s your birthday, ‘Skor’! Actually, turning 90 is nothing to ‘Snickers’ at. Sometimes your mind plays ‘Twix’ on you and you can’t remember where you put the ‘Whatchamacallit.’ The time you spend exercising is ‘Reese’s’-ding, but you still manage to do some ‘Crunch’-es. Time spent with family is your biggest ‘Payday.’ We wouldn’t trade you for ‘100 Grand’ because we love you very ‘Munch.’ You deserve every bit of this ‘Extra’ attention! ‘Hugs’ and ‘Kisses,’ from your kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.”
