The Buffalo Garden Club held its July meeting at 12 p.m. on Thursday the 25th. Janet called the meeting to order. Because our speaker is from outside the club, we had our business meeting before the speaker was scheduled to arrive. The small farm that I grew up on was located in eastern Dallas County, about three miles SE of Long Lane.  There was a small creek (Dousinbury- spelling on Google Earth, Deusenberry- spelling in Glen "Boone" Skinner's book, The Big Niangua River) that ran through the middle of my dad's farm. more

The AmeriCorps Seniors Foster Grandparent Program is looking for seniors who are 55 years old or over and are interested in volunteering at schools, child care centers, daycares, and/or youth centers in the community. The program pairs seniors with children who need mentoring/tutoring in the areas of reading, math, and social/emotional skills. more
HiSet Preparation classes for Adults looking to take their High School Equivalency Test are starting back up for the fall session in Buffalo on August 20. These classes are offered by the Adult Education Department of Ozarks Technical Community College, in partnership with the Dallas County R-1 School District. Classes are free and open to students 17 or older who are not currently enrolled in school.  more
