A celebration party with the Community Foundation of the Ozarks and Coover Charitable Foundation, along with Aldermen, Dallas County Community Foundation members, city officials, YMCA and Brandi Maddux, softball volunteer, was held on Monday. The city of Buffalo won a grant last year from the Coover Charitable Foundation to improve the bathrooms at the Dallas County Community Park. Park users enjoyed a working bathroom, high-profile toilets and changing tables during the year. The clean, functional bathrooms may seem like a minor accomplishment. However, the improvement sent many out-of-town guests and locals home without complaints about the facilities serving 100s of families. more

The Dallas County Cattlemen's Association (DCCA) kicked off its fall membership meetings on September 12th at Prairie Grove School south of Buffalo. The 82 members and guests in attendance heard two USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) Farm Service Agency (FSA) directors give an overview of drought programs and assistance available to benefit cattlemen. more

On September 20, Isaiah 58:7 Mission Pantry installed shelves stocked with food and personal hygiene items at Mallory Elementary and Buffalo Prairie Middle School for students to have easy and free access to. Isaiah 58:7 will be the main source to keep the shelves stocked, however donations from the community are welcome and wanted. The pantry is currently also taking donations for winter blankets and will soon be getting Thanksgiving baskets ready to donate to families. Canned/packaged/sealed Thanksgiving food donations are greatly appreciated. To donate items or for more information contact Isaiah 58:7 Mission Pantry at 417-733-6555. more
The Bison Walk and Talk occurs on the first Monday of each month. The community is invited to participate in the next Bison Walk and Talk from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 2., at Dallas County Community Park, 1600 N. Hickory St., Buffalo. more
There will be a fundraising event called “Buckles & Banners 4 Rob” on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 20 & 21. The event is to benefit Rob Doehring and his family in his cancer journey. more
Bill and Barbara Harris have been Dallas County residents since right after they started their lives together as husband and wife. Married in 1990, the bride and groom were both working for Greyhound when they tied the knot, but shortly after saying “I do,” 6,300 union drivers and workers went on strike. The strike would after two long months, but in the meantime the Harrises had already decided to move back east and closer to their native homes. Dallas County became the home of the newlyweds. more

Buffalo has a leash law for all dogs to be on a leash or fenced property. Residents should call 9-1-1 whether or not they feel imminent threat. Loose dogs are not allowed; it’s against the law. more
When students see Rachel Badgett, they often call her “The Food Lady.” She has been bringing nutrition to the school for over 15 years. School programming with the Dallas County Health Department {DCHD) was awarded with a multi-county grant called Healthy and Active Communities. more
