The Reynolds Cemetery annual meeting will be held at 1 p.m. on May 4, 2024, under the trees in the Cemetery. Also, on May 4, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. there will be an annual work/clean-up day. Anyone interested in helping with the maintenance and clean-up of the cemetery is encouraged to attend. If you are unable to make it for cleanup, we hope everyone interested in the cemetery can attend the 1 p.m. meeting.  more
At 4:20 p.m. on April 16, 2024, John W. James, 63, Buffalo, was headed eastbound on Route TT at Red Top Rd., on a 1982 Honda 450 Motorcycle, when the vehicle ran off the road and overturned. James suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Cox South Hospital, Springfield. The motorcycle had minor damage and was removed by a private party. The driver was wearing a safety device. more
The St. William’s Church will be holding its PCCW (Parish Council of Catholic Women) 44th annual yard sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, and Friday, May 3. The yard sale, plant sale, and bake sale will be held in the church hall at St. William’s 404 N. Locust St., Buffalo. more

The Buffalo Garden Club held its March meeting on Thursday, March 28.  Janet Wood called the meeting to order. The members attending were: Lisa Blake, Cecilia Dixon, Darlene Dufeck, Lenora Erb, Nancy Heard, Rita Hoogland, Shirley Hyatt, Tomi McDaniel, Penny Nevills, Jeanie Smith, Liz Van Dee, and Janet Wood. The roll call question was “What is your most challenging plant or flower you have grown?” There were a variety of answers from planting in the wrong location, too dry or wet, also won't bloom. Generally they are all learning experiences. more
Edmond Powell Cemetery clean up day will be at 8:10 a.m. on May 4, 2024. Anyone interested in the maintenance of the cemetery is welcome to attend. more
Seven local Dance Sensations’ students took home awards from the Dance Champs competition held April 12-13 in Kansas City. Soloists earning an Elite Platinum in their respective categories were Delta Halley, hip hop; Grace Choate, ballet; and Allison Sweaney, ballet. Mason Dority and Allision Sweaney also earned an Elite Platinum with their lyrical duet as did Katie Dotson and Delta Halley with their tap duet. Bella Snider and Zoe Sipes took home a Star Platinum with their jazz duet as did Choate, Dotson and Halley with their ballet trio. This was the first competition for all seven dancers. The dancers study ballet, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, tap and pointe at Dance Sensations, a studio located just off the square in Buffalo since 2010. more

Buffalo City aldermen met Monday evening, April 22, with Hot Rods & Hillbillies promotors Greg and Shane McKinney to discuss and try to reach an agreement for continuation of the biannual car shows that have taken place on the Buffalo square. more
The Spring Rummage Sale, supporting the Dallas County Habitat for Humanity, will be held May 2-4 at the O’Bannon Center, 315 E. Ramsey Street, Buffalo. more
Over the past year, residents may have heard of the Good Dads program as the organizers searched for teachers and a host. Grace Community Church has opened its doors to provide space for Good Dads to begin a men’s group teaching fathers the basics of building a great home environment and teachers have volunteered. more
The Protect Pomme De Terre Group will be conducting a Clean Up day on Saturday, April 27. Sign-in will be from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and the clean-up will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Overlook Park, Shelter #2, picking up trash on the shore of the lake. It is encouraged to bring a boat to help get to the trash. At 2 p.m. a BBQ meal will be provided by the Hickory County Fire Department. A rain date is scheduled for May 18, 2024. more
Maxine Hume of Buffalo recently turned 100 years old. Her family had a birthday celebration for her this past Saturday.Maxine’s two sisters, Nancy, 90, and Leona, 89, made the trip from Dent County, Missouri to wish her “Happy Birthday.” more
Buck Shockley, assistant superintendent at Dallas County R-1 School, gathered a group of county and city law enforcement, Dallas County 911, school officers and staff, and the Office of Emergency Management (OEM). The group tweaked protocols for opening the FEMA Community Shelter at Buffalo High School to ensure everyone was on the same page. It also reviewed current rules and expectations among these officials. more

Ozarks Community Health Center is hosting a colon cancer run/walk at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Pomme De Terre Lake below the dam. Awards will go to the top three male and female runners, plus raffles, food trucks, and education. Register at https://runsignup.com/Race/MO/Hermitage/ColonCancerAwareness5k3k and get a free t-shirt. To run the 5K the price is $25 and to walk the 3K is $20. more
