At 11:30 p.m. on March 28, 2024, Garrett L. Jackson, 25, Elkland, was headed eastbound on RT AA, 4 miles northeast of Fair Grove, in a 1989 Mercury Grand Marquis when he swerved to miss a cow and ran off the roadway, causing the vehicle to overturn. The vehicle was totaled and Jackson suffered minor injuries. He was transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. The driver was not wearing a safety device. more

The Buffalo High School Counseling Department hosted an event on March 21 for senior students to sign up for one-on-one assistance as they complete local scholarships applications. More than 40 seniors took advantage of this opportunity and got to enjoy a variety of chips and dips while working hard. Together, over 200 applications were completed. more
The inaugural Cooking is the Cure cooking class was held on March 18. Dr. Taylor Pedersen's Show Me Strong Kids initiative identified nutrition and lack of family involvement as key issues children experience in Dallas County. Dallas County Family Medical Center started the first cooking class by starting with the basics, with families cooking together in the kitchen. This program is one of the first classes to address issues children experience and provide ways to help them overcome them. more
Children prepare their Easter Baskets for a fun-filled Saturday at the Buffalo Easter Egg Hunt. The egg hunt starts at noon on March 30 in the Dallas County Community Park, 1600 N. Hickory. The event is designed for the entire family as an activity to be spent with friends and family. more

At 10 p.m. on March 23, 2024, Derek R. Johnson, 47, Buffalo, was headed west on Route TT, ten miles south of Buffalo, in a 2019 Mazda CX-5 when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and struck a fence and a tree. The vehicle was totaled by the impact and was towed. Passenger Kimberly T. Johnson, 46. Buffalo, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Both Derek and Kimberly were wearing a safety device. more
