The Buffalo Garden Club Fall plant sale will be held Saturday September 9, at St William Catholic Church, 404 S. Locust Street, Buffalo. The hours will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a variety of house plants, perennials, bulbs and rhizomes. The sale will have outdoor planters, seeds, and something for everyone. If you don't find what you are looking for, leave your request with a Garden Club member. more

Henry Gray True, Steven Nineva Harmon, Lorenzo Dow Owensby (named after the famous preacher of that era), and John Moses Bennett Jr. were their names. The year was 1861. Henry and Steven lived on farms on the north side of Dallas County in the area west of Tunas, Missouri. Henry was about thirty-six years old in 1861, and Steven was around sixty. Lorenzo and John lived on farms south of the town of Buffalo. They were both about twenty-four years old. There is no evidence the four men knew each other when the war started in April 1861, although trips to the town square in Buffalo for goods and news of war events may have allowed early acquaintances to develop. more

Owner Baylee Bliss opened shop on July 10 offering services that include dog bathing and grooming, Nail trimming and pet clothing (seasonal, holiday and more.) Gift certificates are available. Bliss has over two years experience as a groomer and bather at Countryside Kennels. Dawn Bliss works the phones and front desk. L.H. Meuller owned and operated the old Rainbow Station Phillips 66 located on U.S. Hwy. 65 about five miles north of Buffalo. This photo was taken in 1937. It would later become a family style restaurant operated by Lon and Edith Woodrom and then owned by Mamie Waulk until 1980. Then it would serve a few years as an antique store. See later dated photos of this location in our Then & Now feature on page A5. more
