Twenty-five years ago Kevin Cheek began coaching the Skyline girls basketball team. Three years later, in 2003, the 27-year-old Buffalo High School graduate led the Lady Tigers to the Class 2 state championship, and they won the state title again in 2004.

At 9:20 a.m. on January 29, 2024, Amy K. O’Brien, 51, Elkland, was driving a 2018 Kia Forte on Mo. 38, eight miles south of Buffalo, when her car ran off the roadway and struck a pole. The vehicle was totaled and O’Brien was left with moderate injuries. She was taken to Cox South by EMS. The driver was wearing a safety device.

At 1 a.m. on January 26, 2024, on Route M, three miles west of Conway, Kevin J. Moore, 34, Conway, ran off the roadway and struck a tree while driving eastbound in a 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche. Moore suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital in Lebanon. The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene. The driver was not wearing a safety device.

When Braxton Souza was a child, she used to “help” her grandparents take their medications and checking their blood sugar numbers. She and her sister played with stuffed animals like they were patients in their imaginary hospital. She loved helping make anyone feel better. It should come as no surprise that when she grew up, those personality traits carried over to lead her into a career that focuses on making people feel better — nursing.

In 2022 the Missouri General Assembly passed a law eliminating the March Presidential Preference Primary. The selection of presidential nominations for the November 2024 will be under the direction of each established political party. Missouri statutes RSMo 115.776 created the caucus system for established state political parties for the purpose of nominating a candidate for the president of United States.

James Williams is making an improvement to Dallas County one stone at a time. Williams, who has ancestors that settled in the county during the 19th century, has committed much time and energy to the cleaning and restoring of old headstones in cemeteries throughout Dallas County. The difference is almost unbelievable.
