The Faith Connection is a newly formed group that invites all Christians to the table. The mission is to connect people in Dallas County with a church that touches them, where they can find help, comfort and Jesus. The group's sole purpose is to fill up the churches in Dallas County.

At 11:25 a.m. on November 5, 2023, Douglas L. Butler, 62, Buffalo, was headed southbound in a 2010 Jeep Wrangler when the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway, overturned, and caught fire. He suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield by ambulance. The vehicle was totaled. The driver was wearing a safety device.

MaryAnn and Jeff Smith started a Sunday Morning Time with Jesus at their restaurant, JEMS Steakhouse, each Sunday at 8 a.m. They provide a time to worship before the opening of the full restaurant service to allow workers to spend a moment with Jesus before the day starts. The community is invited to join the Smiths and staff.

The Buffalo Christmas Parade, hosted by the Buffalo Area Chamber of Commerce, will be held at 10 a.m., on December 9, 2023. The parade will follow the traditional parade route, starting at Industrial Dr. by Superior Gearbox and going south down Maple St. to the square, around the Square, and north on Poplar St.

Let it be known that the Dallas County Soil and Water Conservation District will hold an election for one supervisor in each of two different territories in the county on February 1 - 20, 2024. Anyone that owns a farm in Territory I - All areas North of State Highway 64 in Dallas County or in Territory III - All areas South of State Highway 32 and West of State Road H and State Highway 38 in Dallas County, and meets the qualifications listed below may be considered as a candidate in the election. You may submit your name for participation in the election by completing the self-nomination form and delivering it to the district by 5 p.m. on November 30, 2023. The self-nomination form is available online at https://mosoilandwater.land/Dallas, or in person at the district office.

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) provides federal grants to states for supplemental foods, health care referrals, and nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age 5 who are found to be at nutritional risk. WIC serves about half of all infants born in the United States.

Mallory Elementary has started a new PTO (parent teacher organization) that will meet next at 6 p.m. on November 27 at Mallory Elementary Library to elect office positions. The next general meeting will be at 6 p.m. on December 4. If you have a student in Mallory Elementary you're urged to attend and learn about the organization and how you can support the students and staff this school year.

For nearly two decades, Jennifer Macella was lost to her true self, surviving in a world mixed with drugs, alcohol and depression. Thankfully, she found her way out of that tumultuous life and started over with a fresh outlook and a heart full of love.
